Lasagna Rock and Roll!

One company event that I've attended was a family day hosted by the leadership team of my awesome project. This event had a cooking segment which encouraged members to showcase their cooking prowess in a MasterChef-like show. Young entrepreneurs had the chance to promote their local businesses like selling Ready-To-Wear clothes and home made pastries and dishes. I was wondering what dish we can easily prepare the night before the event and I immediately thought of a pasta dish. The ingredients were easily available and it's not cumbersome to prepare. I wanted to create something new that my friends and colleagues haven't tried yet. This pasta dish is a twist of "No bake Lasagna" recipe I've learned. Hope you enjoy :)

Ingredients:

250 gm ground beef

250 gm ground pork (this is optional, but I like how it enhances the flavor of the dish)

500 gm lasagna sheets (cooked as instructed)

3 cans of chunky tomato sauce (you can also use fresh diced tomatoes)

1/2 tsp of ground pepper

1 tbsp of sriracha (I like it HOT!)

2 tbsp olive oil

fresh basil, chopped

dried oregano

fresh parsley, chopped

4 cloves garlic

1 whole white onion

salt

sugar

1 cup Parmesan cheese

White Sauce

2 cans heavy cream

1 cup full cream milk

1 cup Chiz Whiz

How To:

White Sauce:

1. Heat saucepan and put it milk. Slowly bring to boil.

2. Add heavy cream and simmer under low heat.

3. Add Chiz whiz, stirring until it dissolves.

4. Set aside to cool.

Tomato Sauce and Pasta:

1. Heat pan and put olive oil.

2. Saute garlic, white onion, ground beef and ground pork until slightly brown.

3. Add tomatoes and simmer for 20-25 mins. Add water as needed.

4. Check if meat is already tender then add chopped basil and dried oregano.

5. Add salt and sugar to taste. 6. Simmer for another 10- 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. Set aside.

8. Cook pasta as instructed in the packaging. Drain and set aside.

On a flat and clean surface, lay the cooked lasagna. put ample amount of sauce then roll the pasta. Top with white sauce, chopped parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
